Medicare and You — e-Learning for new health care professionals
This is a self-paced e-Learning program
for all new health care professionals that aims to:
- make it easier for health professionals to access Medicare education
- improve confidence in using the Medicare Benefits Schedule, and
- increase awareness of associated rules and regulations.
The program is easy to use, interactive and case based. There are seven modules–each with multiple topics that will take between five and 20 minutes to complete. To get the most out of this training you will need to actively participate in the e-Learning activities.

If you are unable to access PBS and You online, an interactive CD-ROM or a printed copy of the PBS and You manual is available on request. Please email pbsandyou@medicareaustralia.gov.au
and provide your name, the practice name, provider number, mailing address and phone number.
Education sessions for new health care providers
- Sessions available to registered medical practitioners and medical practitioners starting or returning to private practice
- Sessions take about three hours
- Sessions cover topics including:
- the Medicare Benefits Schedule
- bulk billing processing
- electronic claiming
- private accounts
- the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme (PBS)
